Loudmouth Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has described investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas as a criminal who has been left off the hook to perpetrate all manner of ills against well-meaning people and institutions in the country and gone scot free, under the guise of fighting corruption.

According to him, the Tiger Eye PI boss’ modus operandi in his undercover operations rather promotes corruption as he seeks to entice and entrap people and later portray them to the world as corrupt persons.

‘’That guy is encouraging corruption to benefit from it. He is a criminal and he is a silly boy. He is selling Ghana for his own benefit. Must he show every piece he does to the international community? The countries he shows these things to, does that mean their systems are perfect? It is the same thing over there. They also have the good people and the bad ones, but they don’t go exposing their countries to the whole world as this guy is doing’’ he said.

The angry Chairman Wontumi who seemed visibly angry while speaking on Accra based okay Fm Thursday February 28, 2019, was emphatic that the time has come for them to stop the investigative journalist from damaging people’s reputation and the image of the country.

His comments come on the back of the latest video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team on corruption in the mining sector.

The video seems to indict some government appointees who are supposed to be fighting the canker of illegal mining, otherwise known as galamsey in local parlance, but who are allegedly complicit and have been compromised.
