President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has terminated a two year contract extension given to the Director of the Tema Port Edward Osei.
Mr. Osei was awarded a two year contract extension when he attained the mandatory retirement age of 60.
But a letter under the hand of the Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare and intercepted by BestNewsGH.com read in part that ‘’the president has directed that the extension of the contract for Mr. Edward Osei as Director of Tema Port should end on 3rd March 2019’’.
The letter which was addressed to the Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Peter Mac Manu and copied to the Secretary to the president, the Minister for Transport and the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission added that ‘’This directive supersedes all other previous correspondence in respect of the above mentioned subject matter.
A replacement in the person of the General Manager in charge of legal services at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Sandra Opoku has since been made.
She goes down in history as the first female Director of the Tema port.
BestNewsGH.com sources indicate that the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Michael Luguje made the announcement at a meeting with the Management of the Tema Port today, Monday February 4, 2019.
The new acting Director of Port was employed into the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority in 2003 as a lawyer.
In 2004, she was sponsored by the Authority to read Maritime Law at the International Maritime Law Institute in Malta.
