The ruling New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for the Sekondi constituency in the Western Region, Andrew Kofi Mercer has indicated that the 2019 budget which will be presented in Parliament next week, will be the first locally brewed budget without the inputs of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The feat according to him is a result of the prudent management of the economy by the current government under the able leadership of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
‘’At the last review, the IMF ticked all the boxes with the exception of the revenue box which was not fully ticked. And this is a feat chalked under the able leadership of the Vice president as the chairman of the economic management team and the finance Minister. They have handled this economy to the admiration of all including the international community’’ he noted on Accra based Asempa Fm.
He expressed confidence that 2019 holds a lot of promise for the country and her people and entreated the generality of the Ghanaian people to exercise patience while the government tries to work at transforming the country for the better.
‘’I am hopeful that 2019 holds a lot of promise for Ghana. Of course there will be one or two challenges for example in terms of securing jobs for our young men, particularly those in these vigilante groups, but I am sure that is a storm in a tea cup’’ he added.
