A serial caller for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has questioned whether the Director General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Kwame Owusu is using the 1 Million Ghana Cedis he used for renovation of his official residence is for the purpose of constructing a mortuary.

According to the serial caller, to install 11 air conditioners in the 2 bedroom now turned 4 bedroom apartment is tantamount to building a cold store or a cold room.

He said “how can you use one million cedis for renovation alone and as if that is not enough, install 11 air conditioners. Why is he building a mortuary? What has Ghana done to deserve this kind of fleecing from these corrupt people? That man must be fired outright”

The Director General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Kwame Owusu has come under fire from a section of the Ghanaian public for spending 1 Million Ghana Cedis to renovate his official residence.

He is also accused of sanctioning and spending 135 thousand Ghana Cedis on an end of year party for staff of the Authority and also spending 10 thousand Ghana cedis on lunch for 17 people.

He has since justified the spending, intimating he acted within the confines of the law and duly received approval from the Authority’s governing board.
