The Inter-Party Coalition for National Sovereignty has described as hell, the recent spate of violence, murders, kidnappings and state sponsored violence in the country.
Leading member of the group and National Chairman of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah speaking on Accra based okay Fm Monday February 4, 2019, said the group was going to petition, the Inspector General of Police, the Minister for the Interior, the President and Parliament on the matter.
According to him, the group was also poised to hit the streets of the capital with a demonstration on Thursday February 7, 2019 in protest against the high state of insecurity in the country.
He also described as worrisome, the blossoming and thriving commercialization of violence in which people recruit armed young men to course confusion and unleash mayhem on innocent citizens and groups for a fee.
Mr. Mornah said the government must rise up to the occasion and stem the acts of lawlessness that has engulfed the country in order to forestall any catastrophe that may hit the country as a result.
‘’Recently I was in Techiman and my party people told me that we are sitting in Accra and when anything happens we restrain them and tell them PNC is a peace loving party and that they will not sit back and get wounded or maimed. That they will arm and defend themselves’’ he added.
He said the level of insecurity has reached a crescendo in which the police officers and security personnel who are supposed to protect the defenseless citizens, are themselves running away from the vigilante groups.
