The Upper West regional treasurer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Tanko Dawda has denied a publication making the rounds that he has lampooned vice president Mahamudu Bawumia on the issue of his alleged large sized delegation to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) meeting.
Accra based Citi Fm reported yesterday that the regional treasurer who is also a lecturer at the University for Development Studies (UDS) had berated the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over the decision to travel to the 2018 UNCTAD meeting with a delegation of 16 people.
According to the report, Mr Tanko Dawda said Dr. Bawumia’s action betrays the NPP’s stance against reckless spending by state officials, adding that he forsees a revolution in the country if such expenditure by government officials continued.
But Mr. Tanko Dawda has denied and rubbished the report, explaining that his Facebook account was hacked and that he has been making frantic efforts to access it without success and was therefore surprised that it was active and that someone impersonating him could make such a post in his name.
He said in a statement that he shares completely in the vision of the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and will not question their sense of judgment, particularly with respect to the UNCTAD trip.
See the statement he signed and released to the press below.
