Controversial son of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Sekou Nkrumah has expressed worry over the fact that his half-brother Onsy Kwame Nkrumah was cleared by the leadership of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to contest their just-ended election.
According to him, Onsy Kwame Nkrumah is an Egyptian and not in any way qualified to contest in an election in a political party his father took time to develop for Ghanaians.
A worried Sekou Nkrumah noted that the action in its self-drags his father name into the mud and should never have been countenanced by the leaders of the CPP.
He said “So these useless CPP people have no shame? How can they elect a fraud, an imposter as vice-chair! Onzy Anwar is a full-blooded Egyptian so how can this shameless con artist hold a position in a Ghanaian party? There is something very wrong with that party! Or is the problem deeper than that? Are we Ghanaians without shame? Have we lost our decency? This indeed is the most shameful day in the history of Ghana!”
While singing the praises of the Political Party’s flag-bearer, Sekou said he could still not understand why Onsy was allowed entry into the race under the watch of Ivor Greenstreet.
“Last year when I visited Ghana, I flew from Miami through London to Accra! On the flight from London I met Ivor Greenstreet, we exchanged greetings and he even commented on my Chelsea jersey that I had on! He also mentioned something about June 12, the day CPP was born! ( The convention people’s party was established on June 12, 1949).I think the current CPP was organizing something on that day!Anyway, I hear Greenstreet was given the nod today to be the face of the party for the 2020 elections! Ivor was also the presidential candidate for 2016!He is a brilliant chap, and I have respect for him. But my concern is with the party he is leading. What on earth will make the CPP elect an Egyptian ( Onzy Anwar) to a leading position? A whole vice chairmen of the party! If this character ( Onzy)managed to get a Ghanaian birth certificate than who ever signed that certificate should be be arrested!If Ivor and the CPP want to be taken seriously then this is a great opportunity to do so! By exposing that fraud among them they will be giving a clear message that integrity stands tall in the corridors of the party!But wait a minute, it looks like I am giving them too much credit, after all how could they have vetted that imposter and given him the go ahead?Ivor and his cronies in the CPP should bow their heads in shame! They have not only disgraced the party, but also have publicly dragged the name of Kwame Nkrumah into the mud!”
Onsy Kwame Nkrumah contested for the position of National Vice Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party but lost after he managed just 84 of the votes cast.
