Officials of the Scholarship Secretariat led by the Registrar of Scholarships, Mr. Kingsley Agyemang have paid a working visit to former President Jerry John Rawlings.

BestNewsGH.com is told the visit which took place on Wednesday June 10, 2020 was to inform the former president about new policies and initiative rolled out by the secretariat since 2017, when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo assumed leadership of the country.

The visit also allowed the team to inform the former president about the recently introduced decentralization of the Secretariat.

Mr. Rawlings, for his part, commended the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat for the massive transformation that has taken place including the decentralization and digitization of scholarships.

He said the difficulty many deserving students suffer in their bid to obtain scholarships will be a thing of the past if the Secretariat supervises the process adequately to ensure that there is no discrimination.

He advised the Secretariat to strictly monitor the devolved process so as to ensure that the purpose of the policy is not lost.

“This development makes me feel good and I urge you to give the new process more publicity so deserving students can take advantage of the process,” Mr. Rawlings said.
