The National Food Buffer Stock Company has said payments to its suppliers are up to date and that the company as of now does not owe any supplier.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Abdul Wahab Hanan, the company has serviced all invoices submitted by the various suppliers who supply food items to the second cycle institutions under the company.

“From December till date we have paid over 100 Million Ghana Cedis to the suppliers and just last week we expended some 19.6 Million Ghana cedis on the 5th batch of suppliers and so we do not owe any supplier as a matter of fact” he said.

The company’s clarification was necessitated by accusations by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the effect that it owed its suppliers and that the aggrieved suppliers mass up every day at the company’s premises to picket in protest of the alleged delayed payment.

But Mr. Hanan said “If we owe anybody now, it means the fellow has not submitted his or her invoice yet. They are people who have come forward yet because we don’t owe them. We are still in the Semester and the semester has not ended yet”.

According to him, most suppliers that visited the company at the time the payments were being made were readily served and they expressed joy at the prompt payment by the current New Patriotic Party Government.
