Paperless port has reduced corruption in Tema Port – Director

The Director of Tema Port, Edward Osei has disclosed that the implementation of the Paperless concept by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has cut down corruption drastically.

He also added that, the paperless concept has been very advantageous because it has made clearing of goods very easy and time saving.

He emphasized once an importer’s documentation is in its right state, goods can be cleared within 24 hours on arrival.

Speaking in a television interview and monitored by BestNewsGH.com Mr. Edward Kofi Osei said, the Port Authority has been working intensively with the Intelligence community to root out any form of corruption.

He explained that the initiatives set by the Vice President has really been helpful to the Port Authority as it led to the reduction of the numerous agencies with responsibility for the inspection and examination of cargo at the port, among others.

Edward Osei stated that GPHA is working closely with the Navy and the Ghana Maritime Authority to ensure safety and security of vessels that dock at the port.
