The National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indicated that it is impossible for the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to deny that the voice on the leaked audio tape is not his.
According to him, the NDC and its National Chairman must do the right thing by apologizing to the generality of the Ghanaian people for the explosive comments in the tape and seek forgiveness for his indiscretion.
Mr. Awuku who was speaking from the Upper East Region where he has pitched camp with the National Youth Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Women’s Organiser, Kate Gyamfuah and the National Nasara Coordinator, Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa on a tour to meet and engage party leaders, vibrant groups and party members in the Northern part of the country said there is the likelihood of the availability of a video evidence apart from the audio.
‘’Personally, I am of the strongest opinion that the thing has happened already. The national chairman cannot deny that it is not his voice, but upon sober reflection if he believes what he said in the tape was not right, he can apologise and ask for forgiveness from the generality of the Ghanaian people. When I made the comment that landed me in trouble some time ago, I apologized and I have said that at the time I made those pronouncements, I was still a boy, now I am a man and I know better’’ he noted.
Mr. Awuku said it takes a great person to apologise and be forgiven, particularly when the apology is a sincere one.
‘’Mr. Ofosu Ampofo is one of the few people who had some credibility in the NDC, but his comments seem to washed all that away. He should own up and apologise because you may never know what evidence the investigators have. Maybe they have some video evidence as well. So in the event that they show him the video, will he go ahead and say the video is also doctored or fake?’’ he added.
