O/R: Volta Regional Minister enskinned as development chief for Oti Region

The Chiefs and People of the newly created Oti Region have selected the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa as the Nkosuohene (Development Chief) for the newly created region under the stool name of Nana Oti Letsa I.

The Krachiwura (Chief of Krachi) Nana Mprah Besemuna III who was the President of the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) for the creation of the Oti Region conferred the title “Nana Oti Letsa I” the Nkosuohene of Oti Region on the Volta Regional Minister for the support he lent the chiefs and people of the area during the struggle for the region.

The chiefs and people of the area are happy that after presenting five petitions to successive governments of Ghana since 1970 by the people of the Oti enclave, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana has made the dreams of the people of the enclave a reality.

The president, yesterday Friday February 15, 2019 presented Constitutional Instrument (CI 112) to the chiefs and people of the enclave to mark the creation of the Oti Region with its capital as Dambai.

Dr. Letsa said the journey to the creation of the new region had not been an easy one, adding that through tenacity, sacrifice and commitment, the creation of the region has been realised.

The Minister congratulated the chiefs and people of the Oti Region for the attainment of a region saying ‘’this is just the beginning of the much desired development we all want. I shall be with you in every step you take towards development. Let’s work together for the development of Oti in peace and unity’’.
