NPP Youth wing urges tertiary students to join TESCON

The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has invited all newly admitted students of the country’s tertiary institutions to join the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the party.

The NPP also appealed to continuing students who are yet to join TESCON not to shy away.

Henry Nana Boakye, National Youth Organiser of NPP, in a statement welcoming all tertiary students to their various campuses, admonished the youth to commit to their books and focus on making the best out of their tertiary education.

According to him, it is refreshing that Ghana is led by a visionary leader from the NPP who has taken, by far, the boldest decisions in the country’s educational sector and made huge investments in education.

He noted that God willing, in the next two to three years, under the leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo, the tertiary strand of the education sector would witness astronomical growth in access by virtue of the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and an infrastructure expansion programme driven by Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the Ministry of Education.

“Indeed, for the first time in recent history, Ghana has a Tertiary Education Policy Document which encapsulates cardinal policies of government on tertiary education, from admissions through graduation, funding, graduate studies and cross-cutting issues on gender, equity and inclusiveness, as well as the labour market”.

“The future of the Ghanaian youth is solid and promising under this government,” he added.

Nana Boakye explained that while at this, it is imperative that the youth take active part in the nation building agenda by joining credible and positive groupings that offer supplementary and critical services in the scheme of quality human capital development.

The National Youth Organiser of the NPP said it is instructive to note that the only formidable association on campuses with the track record in grooming and supplying the country with good leaders is TESCON.

“TESCON for the past 19 years has trained thousands of young people who have assumed delicate leadership positions at the political, governance and corporate levels and are contributing immensely to the sustainable growth of the economy to enhance shared prosperity.

“I encourage the freshers (level 100 students) to join TESCON on their respective campuses and be part of the continuing agenda to have our names inscribed in gold in the history books of Ghana’s contemporary politics. I also encourage continuing students who are not TESCON members to register and join TESCON.

“To members of the TESCON fraternity, I urge you to keep the faith, stay committed to the cause and be resolute in the pursuit of greater heights with TESCON as the National Youth Wing strives to reorient, retool and reposition TESCON for victory 2020 and beyond,” he stressed.
