The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indicated that its Parliamentary primaries will come off before the end of June 2020, BestNewsGH.com can report.
But for the outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the subsequent ban on public and social gatherings, the NPP Parliamentary Primaries would have taken place on April 25, 2020.
NPP General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu commenting on the recent easing of restrictions on public and social gatherings by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his 10th Address to the nation on enhanced measures to combat COVID-19, said the party was pleased with the new directives.
Mr. Boadu who was speaking on Accra based Okay Fm opined that the NPP will convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting as soon as practicable to fix a tentative date for the party’s primaries.
BestNewsGH.com reports him as indicating that the NPP will hold its parliamentary primaries before the Electoral Commission commences its voter registration exercise, to ensure that the party fully and actively participates in the exercise.
He noted further that the party was not oblivious of the additional financial cost it will incur through the provision of items such as hand sanitizers and other logistics to ensure a smooth exercise at the various registration centres.
