NLA commissions smart lab equipped with 50 tablets, projector and laptops for teachers at correctional centre in Accra

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) through its Good Causes Foundation has commissioned a smart laboratory fully equipped with modern computer tablets for the Senior Correctional Centre at Dzowulu in the Greater Accra Region.

The brand new smart laboratory which is equipped with 50 computer Tablets also comes along with a projector and one laptop for each teacher.

The gesture forms part of the numerous good causes being championed by the NLA through the Good Causes Foundation, a special vehicle purposely created to drive the Corporate Social Responsibility of the National Lottery Authority.

Under the leadership of the current Director-General Mr. Sammi Awuku, the NLA has added impetus to the quest to give back society and has in recent times made significant donations and contributions of various kinds to several needy institutions across the country.

Performing the commissioning on Tuesday February 14, 2023, Mr. Awuku told BestNewsGH.com the idea of the smart laboratory is to ‘’expose the young inmates to learning skills needed in the world of work like coding and accomplishing goals which will help them re-integrate into the society when they are released.’’

Mr. Awuku further explained that ‘’This project also falls in line with meeting the Sustainable Development Goals by ensuring an inclusive and equitable quality education and promote learning opportunities for all.’’

The Good Causes Foundation, the NLA Director-General averred, seeks to impact communities across the country positively by giving back and making a lasting impact in national development.

The Senior Correctional Centre at Dzowulu in the Greater Accra Region is under the Ghana Prisons Service. Officials of the facility including the Commander expressed their deepest and profound gratitude to the NLA Boss and his team and promised to maintain the gadgets to ensure a longer lifespan.
