The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it will establish a ballot protection unit, going into the 2020 elections.
Newly elected National Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, delivering his victory speech early Monday morning at the just ended 9th national delegate’s conference of the party, said the ballot protection unit will be clothed with the responsibility of protecting ballot boxes, party agents and ensure ballot accounting on Election day.
‘’We will tap into the energies of the youth, train them and equip them with the necessary knowledge and understanding of the electoral rules to be able to efficiently and effectively prosecute their mandate of protecting the ballot boxes on election day’’ he said.
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo continued, ‘’2020 we will not leave any stone unturned. We will mobilize all forces to ensure we win the 2020 elections’’ he added.
He said he will endeavor to be a ‘moving’ chairman who will take the action to the grassroots of the party, adding that he will ensure that all elected executives give off their best in the party’s quest for victory in the 2020 elections, saying ‘I will not sit in Accra. I will be all over the country. I will not be an arm chair chairman’’
