Veteran Journalist and Editor-in-chief of the new Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has indicated that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) can only remain relevant for the 2024 elections depending on who former president John Dramani Mahama will choose as his running mate.

To him, Mr. Mahama will win the presidential primaries of the biggest opposition party in the country with a wide victory margin but will have to pick a suitable running mate who can take over from him into the 2024 elections.

According to him, most people in the NDC are unhappy because Mr. Mahama can only be a one term president should he go ahead to win the 2020 general elections, a situation he argues does not favour the opposition party.

‘’The party could still remain relevant and competitive towards the 2024 elections depending on who Mr. Mahama chooses as his running mate, that is what they should be looking at because most folks in the party are against him because if he wins the election he will be a one tern president and that is something they don’t want.’’ he said.

Mr. Baako who also chided the John Mahama campaign for losing focus said ‘’in Mr. Mahama’s case you see, because of who he’s been before, he is launching national issues because none of his competitors really has the same level of clout but you see if he is not careful, his campaign will suffer premature ejaculation before he wins the primaries. This is because he launched national issues so he’s being contested by his opponents not just the internal opponents, but the external opponents are already dealing with him on all those issues. He would win the primaries alright, he will become the flagbearer, by that time I am sure perhaps the campaign would have begast, he would have been muscled so badly, and I am not talking if insults, I am talking of people check-mating the things he’s putting out there and debasing them using facts. So I am surprised, there is a little bit of lack of focus.’’
