The Northern Development Authority (NDA) and the British Council are set to improve and enhance Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) education in Northern Ghana.
To this end, the two entities on Monday July 17, 2023, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to set the basis for the formation of a joint collaboration for the roll out of the initiative.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority, Mr. Sulley Sambian, the focus of the programme will be in the three regions within the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone.
Mr. Sambian in his address during the signing ceremony averred that premium has been placed on TVET education because it has found expression in the medium-term development strategy which is a catalyst for job creation for the teeming youth in the Northern Development Zone.
The NDA Chief Executive commended and lauded the British Council and the German Government funding the initiative, explaining that it will go a long way to enhance the livelihood of the people in the catchment area.
The VET tool box ll is designed to equip indigenes of Northern Ghana with Agri TVET skills, as part of a holistic effort to increase agricultural productivity, foster job creation and ultimately improve livelihoods across three regions within the NDA Zone. The three Regions from zone to benefit from this initiative are the Northern, North East and the Savannah Regions.
