National Peace Council meets IGP

Members of the National Peace Council today held a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police Mr. David Asante-Appeatu at the Police Headquarters to discuss pertinent issues about Policing and Peace in the Country.

Issues discussed include the ongoing efforts to deal with the canker of vigilantism in the country, areas of collaboration between the Police and the Peace council and challenges Police officers face in performing their duties in various parts of the country.

Other issues include how to strengthen the relation between Police Commanders and political authorities and also promote police professionalism to ensure peace and security in the Country.

It was agreed during the meeting that, both institutions; the National Peace Council and the Police Service hold regular interactive meetings and joint public education programmes to enhance public understanding of the functions of the Police in ensuring peace in the country.
