The Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Iddrisu Musah Superior has justified why it is important to remove traders who sell and hawk on the streets of the Metropolis, indicating his quest to remove them.

The activities of the traders he explains, not only infringe upon the law, but also interfere with the duties of lawful users of the roads, adding that places earmarked for parking vehicles are now fast turning into trading centres.

Mr. Musah Superior today took to his Facebook page to pour his frustration and announced the readiness of the Assembly to remove all such people who trade and hawk at unapproved locations within the Metropolis.

‘’In addition to the hawkers, there are others on the streets who beg for money. Most of these beggars are mostly immigrants from neighbouring countries As head of TaMA, I consider the possible hazards which can affect those who are involved in this act and the proper users of the roads’’ he wrote.

See his full write-up below.

‘’All the major streets in the Central Business District of Tamale are becoming too choked as a result of the activities of street hawking and trading.

It involves selling goods of any form along these streets.

In addition to the hawkers, there are others on the streets who beg for money. Most of these beggars are mostly immigrants from neighbouring countries As head of TaMA, I consider the possible hazards which can affect those who are involved in this act and the proper users of the roads.

They are not only infringing upon the law, they interfere with  the lawful users of the roads. Places which are meant for vehicles are now becoming trade centres.

Children are left to loiter/wander about on the streets chasing cars to sell their items day-in and day-out. This is inappropriate.

That’s why, this morning, TaMA will remove all traders on our streets. We seek to professionally excute this task. Please help keep our roads clean and safe’’
