Founder and Leader of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has revealed that his wife prays for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo everyday, and that the president has become a constant feature in her daily prayer topics.

Mr. Ayariga however says he does not believe his wife is merely praying for his political opponent, but is patriotic and wants the country’s progress, hence her incessant prayers for the president.

Speaking on Accra based Metro TV and monitored by BestNewsGH.com, Mr. Ayariga said “My wife prays for Akufo-Addo every morning, she prays that God gives the President wisdom to rule the country. At such moments, she is not praying for my political opponent but for the president because whether I like it or not he is the President.”

Mr. Ayariga said there was also nothing wrong with Pastors and Men of God offering intercessory prayers for the president, explaining that as head of the country, the spirit of the president controls the country.

He was quick to condemn the trend in which some pastors and Men of God offer prayers for particular political parties and giving prophesies on the victory or loss of these parties in elections, saying “Pastors shouldn’t be praying for NDC or NPP to win, that’s a wrong way of praying. They should pray for a leader of the nation irrespective of the political party such individuals may come from.’’

He added that “They should not pray for NDC or NPP; calling them to pray for them is not necessary. They shouldn’t use the podium for partisan politics.’’
