MTN supports Essikado Kuntum Festival; donates cash, airtime and more

Ghana’s leading Mobile Telecommunications Company, MTN has donated cash, airtime and a drinks hamper to the Essikado Traditional Area.

The company made a cash donation of GHC 7,000 via cheque, Airtime worth GHC 500 and a drinks hamper worth GHC 1000, all totaling GHC 13,000  in support of the upcoming Kuntum Festival of the Chiefs and People of Essikado.

In his remarks, Prince Owusu Nyarko, Senior Manager  incharge of South West Business District said ‘’ As an African Multinational, the management of MTN Ghana deem it appropriate to support our African culture and heritage through the celebration of Traditional festivals. Festivals project a lot about the African society and are considered an integral part of the African culture. We identify with this heritage and in view of this, we come in each year to support with cash and kind donation to make the festival memorable for the indigenes and revellers.’’

Mr. Owusu Nyarko added that ‘’ Additionally, this year has been declared the year of return by the Government and some activities have been organized to include our traditional festivals. As a good corporate citizen with its roots from Africa, we find it prudent to support the activities that will make the year of Return a memorable one. Aside the Essikado Kuntum Festival we will support over 30 traditional festivals across the country.’’

He revealed that the company will set up a fun village at the festival grounds where patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of entertainment programmes while patronizing its products.

He said the company in addition to the donation, support the organization of a Masquerade Carnival, a MoMo fair and a community football gala.

‘’Also, MTN will provide canopies to support the organization of the durbar of chiefs. We hope our support in these areas would help make this year’s celebration a grand one.’ He averred further.

Mr. Owusu Nyarko also seized the opportunity to encourage the chiefs and people of Essikado Traditional Area to actively participate in the ongoing MoMo 10th anniversary celebrations during which various fabulous prizes including 10 brand new cars are up for grabs.

‘’Finally, let me take this opportunity to remind you that MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) is celebrating 10 years of its existence and we are doing a lot of exciting things. One of these is the promotion currently ongoing and we are giving out 10 cars. Don’t be left out.  Five cars have already been given and 5 more left to be given. All you need to do, is do more MoMo transactions to build points and win.’’

Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area in his remarks, expressed the gratitude of the Chiefs and People of the Essikado Traditional Area to MTN Ghana for the support.

He was hopeful that their continued cooperation would yield benefits that will be mutually beneficial to both sides.
