Mobile Telecommunications Giant MTN Ghana has donated a customized mattress, bed and desk to the tallest student of Swedru School of Business in the Central Region.

The 16-year-old Ebenezer Mensah is so tall that he is unable to fit into the normal sized mattresses, beds and chairs in the school, perhaps making him the only ‘odd’ one among the lot, prompting the mobile telecoms company to extend its generosity and magnanimity to him.

Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, who is the acting Regional Senior Manager for MTN Ghana for South-West, who led the delegation to make the presentation to the student in the school, said the gesture is aimed at making life comfortable for Master Ebenezer Mensah.

According to him, they undertook the initiative, mindful of the fact that government and the various schools for that matter do not make allocations for such students who require special needs.

‘’We have taken it upon ourselves to endeavor to put smiles on the faces of the people living in the communities within which we operate. And this is the yuletide period where we are all expected to show love to people and so on, and so when he heard and read about the plight of the student, we deliberated on it and decided that we will offer him a customized mattress, bed and chair to suit his height. When we got here we received a very warm welcome and it gives us satisfaction that we have been able to achieve our goal of putting a smile on someone’s face’’ he said.

Mr. Mohammed further noted that the company will be on standby to lend a helping hand to the student based on his performance in school and the specific talents he exhibits while studying, adding that they are in touch with the school authorities to ensure that they are kept abreast with his activities to enable them appreciate which area they should intervene in, if need be.
