She is known in Uganda as the most fertile woman after giving birth to 42 children in just 15 pregnancies.
Mariam Nabatanzi tells her story of how she was abused and sold into marriage at an early age of 12 and how she has been mistreated and molested sexually in the past, culminating in her giving birth to her first child at the age of 13.
Now a single mother of 42, Mariam’s situation and her ‘achievement’ as the most fertile woman in Uganda has caught attention and has gone viral on social media.
Currently, Mariam has 38 children following the death of 4 of her children to unknown ailments.
Doctors have attributed her condition with regards to her pregnancies to hyper ovulation.
Hyperovulation in humans refers to the production and release of more than one egg during a menstrual cycle. Hyperovulation can occur naturally or be stimulated via hormone treatments for the purposes of egg donation in third-party reproduction.
