A member of the NPP National Communications Team, Mr Benjamin Akowuah Acheampong has alleged that Former President John Mahama is a Gay due to his close knit relationship with the popular Gay Activist/Lobbyist, Mr Andrew Solomon.

He made this assertion during a newspaper review segment on GHOne TV with the NDC’S Northern Regional Deputy Communications Officer, Malik Basintale and hosted by Ridwan Karim Bimi.

Various newspapers published the recent demonstration by some aggrieved customers of Menzgold in Asokwa in the Ashanti Region.

A protester who spoke on camera demanded that the Nana Akufo-Addo led Government should refund their monies locked up in Menzgold for them because the President and notable leaders in Ghana have been seen in a photograph with the owner of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah aka NAM 1.

“A thief cannot pay a courtesy call on the President, a thief cannot visit Otumfour. So most of us had the confidence to invest with Menzgold when we saw a picture of Nana Appiah Mensah and the President (pointing to a picture the president and Nana Appiah Mensah on a placard)…’ the protester asserted.

Malik Basintale corroborated the stance of the aggrieved customers and further added; “the President cannot deny his flirtatious relationship with Nana Appiah Mensah when he goes around taking pictures with him and sponsors him on a business trip with him with our taxpayers money… Since the government used our taxpayers money to pay the DKM customers they promised and spent over 20 billion in saving some collapsed banks recently, it should find money to pay the over 1.8 million customers of Menzgold”, he opined.

Mr Benjamin A. Akowuah in responding to these statements expressed shock at the interpretation given to the photograph circulating on social media. He explained, “Anyone at all can pay a courtesy call on the Presidency or Otumfour’s palace if the said individual has cause to. The Jubilee House is not the preserve of a privileged few, more so the president is a public figure and anyone can request his courtesy to take a picture with him. Taking a picture with the president does not necessarily mean you are in bed with the president.”

Pointing to his co-panelist from the NDC he stated, “I do not want to be Political with this issue but my brother here is giving me the laxity and luxury to conclude the Former President John Mahama is a Gay because he was also seen taking pictures with Andrew Solomon, a world  renowned gay lobbyist in 2013” he emphasized.

Mr Akowuah however advised customers of Menzgold to trigger the legal processes to recoup their monies from Menzgold in the law courts and not resort to demonstrations and civil disobedience.
