Former President John Dramani Mahama seems to worry so much about the intellect and prowess of the second lady, Mrs. Samira Bawumia and is calling for a debate with her.

According to a message posted on his Twitter handle, the former President who is also the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) seemed to suggest that the NDC overlooked the second lady in 2016 when she campaigned for the ruling NPP because she is a woman.

Mr. John Mahama averred in the post sighted by BestNewsGH.com that the second lady only came to do propaganda in 2016 and seems to be launching herself in the political space again.

He wrote:

“In 2016 she came to do her propaganda and we left her because she is a woman. Samira Bawumia seems to have started launching herself in the political discourse again. We welcome her, but she should be prepared to debate me then”

The second lady in a recent interview on an Accra based radio station reiterated the long held perception that the former president and his Party, the NDC had an abysmal record in government and continues to show signs of incompetence even in opposition.

Mrs Bawumia was of the view that “Ghanaians are discerning and they know that the alternative to the NPP is empty”.

“Former President Mahama represents more of the same and the same was rejected in 2016 and it will be rejected again in 2020”, she added.

This perhaps is what has gotten to the NDC presidential candidate, pushing him to call for a debate with the second lady.
