Founder of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings says he’s not going to comment on the controversial National Cathedral project until his church, the Roman Catholic Church makes its stance on the project known.

According to him, he wouldn’t be caught in a web of confusion where he says something and his church also says a different thing.

He made the pronouncements when the eminent persons assembled by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to facilitate the construction of the project paid him a visit in his office to officially invite him for the just ended fundraising dinner.

The National cathedral project is the brainchild of president Akufo-Addo and has drawn a lot of fuss from sections of the public, most of whom believe it is a misplaced priority and that there far more important and pressing bread and butter issues that require urgent attention, than the construction of a national cathedral.

But just last Friday December 28 2019, the president announced during the fundraising dinner night that the reason for his enthusiasm in getting the cathedral constructed is to fulfill a promise he made to God to construct the cathedral in His honour should he (Akufo-Addo) win the 2016 elections.
