General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has lambasted president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for paying lip service to his rule of law mantra.

According to him, the president through his actions has proven beyond every reasonable doubt that he does not believe in the rule of law, even though he is lawyer.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah is accusing the president of sidestepping rules and regulations governing appointments and dismissal of public office holders, adding that the president’ plan is to fill all the important positions in the public sector with Members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said ‘’the president and the government have been lucky because there were some vacancies in the judiciary service for the appointment of some judges and he has filled those vacancies with his people. We are yet to see what their judgements will look like to assess if they will be compromised or not. He moved to the Electoral Commission too and relieved the top brass of their positions and sent them home, he extended the same to the Bank of Ghana and dismissed several top officials, he also took advantage of the Kwesi Nyantakyi issue to dissolve the GFA and sent the workers packing.

General Mosquito as the NDC chief scribe is popularly known continued ‘’you a president who is a lawyer and campaigned on the back of the rule of law, but your demeanour and every move smacks of someone who doesn’t believe in allowing due process to work. Every action that you take, you use force. That is the patapaa I was talking about when he was campaigning to be president of the country, but Ghanaians didn’t listen’’.
