The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service as highly incompetent and corrupt who is on her way to becoming the Inspector General (IGP) of the Ghana Police Service.

The NDC’s comments come on the back of the recent promotion of Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah from a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to a Commissioner of Police (COP).

The party which has catalogued some 12 instances in which the CID boss has failed to live up to the billing and her call as chief criminal investigator in the country said it is not surprised that in the midst of such gross incompetence, government still found it expedient to promote her.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong last week also took a swipe at the CID boss for her handling of the Ahmed Suale murder case and for making some pronouncements during a press conference at the instance of the police CID.

Read the 12 instances the NDC says the CID boss has let down Ghanaians below:

  1. She covered up for that investigation into an allegation of corruption by A-Plus.
  2. When Nyantakyi implicated the President in that 5-4-3-1-1 formula, she did her best for the president.
  3. Anas released his galamsey fraud documentary and nobody has been found to be worthy of investigation under her watch.
  4. Manasseh’s recent exposé got us to know how close allies of the president were using the Castle for nefarious activities, Tiwaa was quiet.
  5. Ayawaso by-election was a disaster, till date, nobody has been brought to book.
  6. Suale Ahmed Hussein was murdered, we are yet to hear any positive news.
  7. Our kidnapped Taadi girls have not been found yet.
  8. The same Tiwaa, invited NDC’S Chairman, Communication officer and his deputy, immediately charged them for court over an alleged leaked tape attributed to them without even authenticating the veracity of this tape.
  9. NAM1, they gave us very funny flimsy excuses.
  10. Australian visa fraud involving Pius ENAM “Fofo” Hadzide, he was cleared.
  11. Very unfortunate and pathetic how our security services are allowing a man who has nothing to lose at age 75 (football age) to polarize the rank and file along political lines to achieve a parochial personal and party (regime) interest instead of national interest.
  12. In the case involving the State versus Gregory Afoko, Tiwaa has REFUSED till date (three weeks after Gregory has been granted bail) to release Gregory Afoko to his family even though the court has ordered so. Letters to her desk just to even meet Gregory (who has not been allowed access to his lawyer or family for two months now) are gradually gathering dust; an order from above.
