It has emerged that the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has spent a whopping Four Hundred Thousand (400,000) Ghana Cedis on a tour for five national officers of the Association in 2018 alone.
The Association also blew a further Fifty Thousand (50,000) Ghana Cedis on Newspapers also in 2018.
These spendings are contained in the Association’s 2018-2019 budget statement.
With the budget for the Newspapers, a rough calculation will indicate that an amount of One Hundred and Thirty Seven (137) Ghana Cedis is spent on newspapers alone every day.
With regards to the tour for the five national officers, it means Eighty Thousand (80,000) Ghana Cedis has been expended on each officer for just 2018 alone.
It has also come to light that the actual total dues accruing to the Association stands at Sixty Four Million, Four Hundred and Seven Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty One Cedis, Seventy Five Pesewas (64,407,741.75).
Some aggrieved GNAT members tell this Website that they have no option but to hold the leadership of the Association accountable and to stop them from further depleting its coffers.
