Gifts flow as Asantehene marks 69th birthday

It was all joy when the people of Asanteman showed massive love to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II when he marked his 69th birthday and 20th anniversary since ascending the Golden Stool.

Scores of people from Asanteman thronged the St. Cyprian Anglican Church with various gifts for the Asantehene.

Mostly food items, the gifts neatly parceled in beautifully crafted baskets included plantain, yam, kontonkire, pepper, tomatoes, banana, water melon, cassava and pineapple among others.

Top government functionaries led by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, including the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Sophia Akuffo and the Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare joined the Asantehene for the celebration which took place on Monday April 6 2019 in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.

In his remarks, the  Vice President underscored the important role of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in nation building and development.

According to the Vice President, the Asantehene continues to play a critical role in the Ghana project, adding that he has been a great asset to the growth and development of the country.

Dr. Bawumia said ‘’His Majesty continues to play a critical role in the Ghana project, and his constant advice and guidance has been a tremendous asset to Ghana’s growth and development. May God continue to bless him with good health, long life, and wisdom’’.
