GES adjusts 2021 academic calendar

The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has adjusted the academic calendar and dates for senior high schools (SHSs) for the 2021 academic year.

It, therefore, asked all heads of schools to take note of the adjusted calendar and dates and communicate same to staff, students and parents.

This was contained in a letter signed by a Deputy Director-General, Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, to all regional directors of education.

Double Track Schools

The letter said the reopening date for SHS Three students was May 5, 2021 while the reopening date for SHS Two Green Track students was June 1, 2021.

The SHS Two Gold Track students, it said, would vacate on May 29, 2021 while the SHS One Green Track students would vacate on May 15, 2021 with the SHS One Gold Track vacating on May 4, 2021.

The SHS One single track students would also vacate on June 15,2021.

Single Track

Regarding the single track schools, the letter said SHS Three students would reopen on May 5, 2021 with the SHS Two students reopening on June 1, 2021.

SHS One students in the schools would vacate on July 16, 2021.

“Regional directors of education are by this letter to inform all heads of SHSs to take note and communicate same to students and parents,” it said.

Additionally, it said “heads of SHSs running double track for Form Ones are to, as a matter of urgency, communicate to all parents about the designated tracks for their wards to enable them to plan accordingly”.
