A Female tractor operator, Bedu Mary has undertaken to train illiterate females to enable them break frontiers and join the male dominated profession of operating tractors.
Ms. Bedu Mary who also doubles as a tutor at the Damongo College of Agriculture was part of a group of 180 women who were trained by the Agriculture Technical Vocational Education and Training (ATVET), across the country.
Already, Ms. Bedu has been at the forefront of training some men since she completed her training with the ATVET.
BestNewsGH.com can report that she has been tutoring them on tractor maintenance to enable them fit into the Agric mechanization Business.
Also, she trains Agric extension service agents to help sharpen their skills and to make them effective and efficient in the field.
She has indicated her resolve to focus on training unlettered women in Damongo in particular and the five Regions of the North as a whole.
Ms. Bedu averred that even though Countrywise Communication has promised to sponsor her, she requires more sponsorship in order to be able to carry out the task of bringing more females onboard the tractor operation sector.
“Countrywise communication has given me some exposure and after attending the harmattan awards ceremony some people have expressed interest in sponsoring me. So the project will kickstart in August 2020, but I’m appealing for more sponsorship.’’
