The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on Ghanaians to embrace his vision and fresh ideas for transformation.
That, he said, was because former President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lacked modern policies and ideas to improve the lives of the citizens.
He said with just four years left for the former President, he would not be accountable to Ghanaians but he (Bawumia) would be accountable because he would come back to seek the mandate of the people for another four-year term.
Dr Bawumia, who was addressing a joint community connect at the Atomic Park in Accra last Thursday, said “the rearing of chicken and operating a 24-hour night club” was not the way to go in this era of the fourth industrial revolution.
Therefore, he said, a vote for the former President and the NDC would be retrogressive.
Possibilities tour
Dr Bawumia said given the opportunity, he would build a digitalised economy to create jobs and employment opportunities for the youth of the country.
The NPP flag bearer was in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency as part of his possibilities tour to sell his message of “bold solutions” which he believes could transform the country.
Earlier, he engaged the chiefs, queen mothers, Imams, the clergy and key opinion leaders from the 18 electoral areas of the constituency.
He later interacted with constituents at the Kwabenya tipper truck and taxi rank after which he joined other party bigwigs for a community connect at the Atomic Park near the Atomic roundabout.
Security
Dr Bawumia, who said he would prioritise the security of Ghanaians, also promised to improve security in all regional and district capitals with 50, 000 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.

“We are going to provide 50,000 CCTV cameras to boost security in capitals and districts capitals to track crimes and have clues to support the police and security agencies to deal with crime,” he announced.
Dr Bawumia also shared his plans to make life simple through digitalisation by making the acquisition of passports, driver’s licenses among other public services less cumbersome for the people.
Other speakers
Other speakers at the community connect were the Minister for Fisheries, Hawa Koomson; a former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyapong; Minister of Education, Yaw Osei Adutwum; the Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, and the aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome Kwabenya, Michael Aaron Oquaye Jnr.
They also took turns to address the ecstatic crowd and urged them to guard the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy introduced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ensure continuity of the policy under a Bawumia presidency.
