National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku has hinted that the party will double its campaign for the 2020 general election, compared to what it did in the 2016 elections.

According to him, the NPP will go into the elections at its own pace and will not underestimate which ever candidate the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will present as presidential candidate.

‘’The NPP will campaign in 2020, times 2 of what we did in 2016. We are also determined to win the 2020 elections on our won strength, dictate our pace as to the message we want to send out to the Ghanaian people’’ he added.

‘’Those within the NDC set up, I think that it is about time that we have a strong opposition, opposition must be credible and when I listen to some of the statements of Mr. John Mahama, it runs contrary to what the NDC wants to achieve in 2020. People have said that its time he takes a back seat, but there are many people in the NDC who still believe that he is the cash man now, he has the money, so let’s field him, let’s dissipate the cash he has, so that 2024 we can have maybe a new face to project.’’

Mr. Awuku added that the NPP is watching closely, happenings in the NDC and that the party will not underestimate whichever candidate the NDC presents as it presidential candidate, adding that, the same will be the seriousness of the NPP even if the NDC fields an unknown or an unpopular candidate.
