COVID-19: Truck loads of food arrives in Kumasi for distribution

Truck loads of food items have arrived in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi, for onward distribution to residents as the observe the lockdown announced by government as a result of the outbreak of the COVID-19 Virus.

Earlier, the Minister for Children, Gender and Social Protection, Cynthia Morrison had announced that government was in the process of transporting food to the region to serve those in need.

BestNewsGH.com can confirm that the food items have indeed arrived in the region, loaded in several trucks and ready for distribution.

Deputy Gender Minister Freda Prempeh in an interview with the media opined that the food items will be repackaged into smaller bags and distributed to the various households.

Madam Prempeh listed head potters, known in local parlance as Kayayei, street dwellers as well as homeless people as well as vulnerable people as beneficiaries of the items
