A Board Member of the National Sports Authority, Hon. Seth Panwum, popularly known as Boyoyo has berated and lampooned former president John Dramani Mahama for his incessant attacks on the current ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
According to the two-time presiding member of the West Mamprusi District Assembly, the former president should be the last person talking about corruption and incompetence in Ghana’s political space.
Mr. Panwum who was speaking in an interview on an Accra based radio station averred that given the numerous dirty and stinking rot and scandals that characterized the former president’s tenure, he has no locus and moral right to castigate and criticize the current Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led administration.
He cited scandals such as SADA, GYEEDA, SUBA, NCA, SSNIT, the infamous Bus Branding, the Brazil World Cup, the STX housing deal, the Brazilian aircrafts, the Ford Expedition Vehicle and the Armajaro saga among others as a few of the stinking corrupt practices that the former president should be brooding and pondering over.
He said ‘’The incompetent one is just uncaring that He is not satisfied with the harm he created but want to come and do more harm. You think Ghanaians have short memories just as you described them under your tenure. At the risk of rehashing the reality, I refer you to the statement made by the founder of your party and also a stalwart of your Party (Sylvester Mensah). The presidency is not an avenue or a place where you go to make mistakes and return to ask for another chance to make amends. I think that, you must be ready and prepared to get to the seat of the presidency, and when you are there, there should be minimum errors but if you go there and commit errors and just come back to the public and say that, I made mistakes, I am now coming back to correct my wrongs, it simply means you were not prepared then and even now you are not prepared”.
Mr. Panwum mentioned the Free SHS, Employment of Teeming Youth, Regional Creation and Reintegration, Digitizing of Ghana and a Strong financial sector as some of the success stories of the current administration which Mr. Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could never achieve in their many years stay at the seat government.
‘’Mahama is the most blessed president ever in this country’s history. By the time he took over as president in 2012 we were just a year or so as an oil producer, cocoa prices were good, Ghana had really not much of a debt… but what did he do, he wasted the opportunity. Ballooned our debt portfolio, froze employment for all public sector including critical areas like health and education. the high unemployment situation in this country is as a result of his mis-leadership during his tenure. What is he going to introduce again that we are not doing?’’ he added.
