The youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Brong Ahafo Region is accusing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of using thugs to prevent their members from registering in the ongoing limited registration exercise being carried out by the Electoral Commission.

Addressing the media in Sunyani, the regional Deputy Youth Organizer of the NDC, Owusu Nkrumah Ababio revealed that they issued a statement last week asking the Police Service to be proactive and bring the NPP thugs to order.

BestNewsGH.com’s Brong Ahafo Regional Correspondent Kofi Sarpong reports Mr. Nkrumah Ababio as alleging that the registration exercise started peacefully last Sunday but was disrupted when some NPP thugs chased out some people they presumed to be NDC members from registering in the Asunafo Constituency.

He revealed that apart from the NPP thugs preevnting the people from registering, they beat up the Women Organizer, Rita Donkor and the Communication Officer Solomon Osei.

Mr. Ababio noted that is why they want to form their own protective groups to resist such incidents.

He also added that they have instructed their youth to retaliate if the Police does not act to bring the NPP thugs to book.

“Ghana is bigger than the so called NPP Community Police and their thugs and we shall resist any action to deny any of our members their fundamental and political right to get registered in the ongoing registration exercise in the region,” Mr. Ababio disclosed.
