President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufom-Addo has fired three High Court judges, Paul Uuter Dery, Mustapha Habib Logoh and Ayisi Addo on grounds of bribery and corruption.
The removal of the judges follows recommendations by a committee instituted by the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo to investigate a complaint lodged by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw bothering on corruption against the three men.
A statement issued by the communications directorate of the presidency and signed by Director of Communications Eugene Arhin says the president’s action draws strength from the provisions of Article 146 (9) of the constitution of Ghana.
‘’President Akufo-Addo has thus, directed that a copy of the committee’s report be submitted to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service for the requisite action to be taken’’ the statement added.
