President Nana Addo Danka Akufo-Addo has promoted the Ashanti and Central Regional Police Commanders, Kwesi Mensah-Duku and and Paul Manly Awini respectively, to the ranks of Commissioners of Police (COP).
The duo who were Deputy Commissioners had the promotion taking effect from 1st July 2019, and was based on the advice of the police council.
A wireless message announcing the promotions also stated that the president has approved an application for a two year service extension for Mr. Mensah-Duku who will now retire on 9th July 2021.
This comes on the heels of earlier promotions carried out by the President in April this year when five deputy commissioners were elevated to Commissioners of police.
That batch included the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department, Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah.
