President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former president John Dramani Mahama have both been mourning the former National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei who passed on in the early hours of today, Tuesday, March 12 2019 at the Accra Regional Hospital.
President Akufo-Addo described the late Dr. Kwabena Adjei who was also popular called Wayo Wayo or Nkonya Terminator as a man of strong opinions.
The president in a statement said ‘’sad to hear of the passing of Dr Kwabena Adjei. He was a friend, whom I met in the 2nd parliament of the 4th Republic. He was then Majority Leader, and gave good leadership to the House. Man of strong opinions, he was a formidable opponent, and I enjoyed very much our interactions’’.
He added that ‘’ His relationship with our “boss”, the late, great JH Mensah, then Minority Leader, provided a big boost for the work of Parliament and for the advancement of our democracy. He will be missed. My condolences to his party, the National Democratic Congress, and to his family. May his soul rest in perfect peace’’
Former President John Dramani Mahama on his part eulogized the late former Minister for Agriculture for his firm and effective leadership of the Majority Caucus in Parliament between 1996 and 2000, of which he was a member.
‘’During my visit to him last Sunday at the Ridge Hospital, the doctors described his condition as stable. He was in good cheer and was positive he will join us in the political trenches soon’’ the former president wrote in a statement.
