Pressure group Occupy Ghana has said the decision by Authorities of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to convert singles halls of residence to mixed halls cannot be reversed.
According to the group, once the University Council has taken that decision, it cannot be reversed.
They argue that if the decision is reversed, it will set a very bad precedent for progress which will mean that the council will not be respected and revered as it should be.
Leading member of the group, Kwaku Segbefia speaking during an interview on an Accra based radio station and monitored by BestNewsGH.com opined that the university must also take a second look at some of what they describe as secondary school policies.
‘’Policies such as instructing that all students should go to bed at 10 pm was absolutely wrong because these are not kids and they are not in the secondary school. They are in the University so you don’t come up with such childish policies and expect them to obey’’ he said.
The group also took a swipe at the University Authorities for their posturing when the issue started gathering steam, saying they should have calmed the nerves of the students using tact and diplomacy, instead of the high handedness with which the issue was tackled.
