National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has  confirmed reports that some five former appointees of former president John Dramani Mahama who are also contesting the party’s presidential candidacy have joined forces in an attempt to oust the former president and scuttle his chances of winning the primaries.

Mr. Mahama is clearly, the favorite to lead the party into the 2020 elections but is meeting stiff competition from some 13 of his former appointees.

Rumors were rife that five of the aspirants had ganged up and are joining forces to dethrone Mr. Mahama.

The five are former Trade and Industry Minister, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Mr. Augustus Goosie Tandoh, Mr. Kweku Ricketts Hagan, a former deputy finance Minister, Mr. Sylvester Mensah, a former Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, and Mr. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency in the Upper West Region.

Dr. Spio-Garbrah came out to deny the allegations and said they met as friends who meet regularly and that it was one of such meetings they held and not to plot against the former president.

But speaking on Accra based Okay Fm and monitored by BestNewsGH.com, Mr. Kofi Adams confirmed that the five were indeed plotting against the former president.

He chided Dr. Spio-Garbrah for going to town with information that is meant to be for party consumption.

He admonished him to go about his campaign on a decorous manner and not try to denigrate or berate the former president
