2019 is a year for serious business, John Mahama must spare Ghanaians his comedy-PK Sarpong

Writer and ardent ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter, PK Sarpong is impressing upon former President John Dramani Mahama to spare Ghanaians his ‘comedy’ this year, as 2019 is a year for serious business for the country.

His comments come on the back of comment by the former president that he will develop the 6 new regions in the country should he win the 2020 elections.

But Mr. Sarpong is not in the least enthused at all with Mr. Mahama’s comments.

He took to social media to pen down his thoughts about the former president, indicating that Mr. Mahama has nothing new to offer the generality of the Ghanaian people and must stop throwing his weight about.

‘’The former president ought to be told in case he is clueless as to what precipitated the creation of the six regions is to open up these areas in terms of development. Akufo-Addo is going to develop the six regions in a manner not seen before, so Mahama should shelve his wet dreams with regards to the newly created administrative boundaries. We have not forgotten the several efforts the NDC made to frustrate the creation of these regions. Even after they have been successfully created, we have key functionaries of the opposition party vehemently speaking against it’’ he wrote.

MAHAMA SHOULD SPARE US HIS COMEDIES THIS YEAR

I must admit that I was not stupefied by the unwonted pronouncement of former President John Dramani Mahama to the effect that he would develop the six regions created by President Akufo-Addo if he is voted for in 2020.

Let me use this anecdotal story to describe the scenario being created by the former president.

A businessman, out of his expertise, established a business empire to help his people. Resources available were very limited but he would not be bogged down by the unavailability of these resources.

Another man who has very little knowledge in managing such a business empire goes to the workers with the view to cajoling them to boot out the visionary CEO of the company so that he would take over the management of the company.

Promising them mouthwatering goodies if they succeed in getting rid of the business magnate, he set about, making sure that his devilish intentions become a reality.

This is exactly what John Mahama is doing. After plunging this country into an irremediable abyss, President Akufo-Addo has come to our rescue.

The Akufo-Addo administration, to top it all, has not only dreamt up the possibility of creating additional regions for the country but also actualized that dream. The regions have been created in line with his vision and that of the New Patriotic Party.

Then the incompetent one (TIO) cruises into town, promising to accelerate development in the newly created regions as though the Akufo-Addo government has no intention of doing that.

The illogicality in this is that the architect who dreamt up this edifice does not seek to develop it into a world class mansion. We are, in essence, being told that the person who fashioned out this beautiful concept did it for reasons other than developing it.

The former president ought to be told in case he is clueless as to what precipitated the creation of the six regions is to open up these areas in terms of development. Akufo-Addo is going to develop the six regions in a manner not seen before, so Mahama should shelve his wet dreams with regards to the newly created administrative boundaries.

We have not forgotten the several efforts the NDC made to frustrate the creation of these regions. Even after they have been successfully created, we have key functionaries of the opposition party vehemently speaking against it.

The one who bears a child knows how to better take good care of him/her. The one who has created these six regions can best develop them, and that man is His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
