“You are cooking PFJ figures”-Minority to Government

The Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC has  accused the NPP led  government of setting up a propaganda unit at the Ministry of Agriculture to churn out cooked figures on planting for food and jobs program.

According to the NDC, the program was intended to reduce the importation of maize among other things has landed Ghana increasing importation of maize to 50,000 metric tonnes in 2019.

Speaking at a Public Forum dubbed, Assessing the three year reign of President Akuffo Addo, the Member of Parliament for the Asunafo North constituency Mr Eric Opoku  claimed that though the country has been importing maize, the said unit has been deceiving the public with claims that there has not been maize imports into the country.

“The current status of the planting for food and jobs programs is muddy as a result of the continuous smuggling of huge quantities of fertilizers outside the country mostly by the NPP gurus”, he said.

Mr Opoku also added that, instead of the Akuffo Addo led Government to find a better way of confronting the challenges; they have setup an office at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to deepen up the figures.

BestNewsGH.com reports him as saying “The propaganda department is different from the Statistical service department which is officially recognized to provide statistics on the agric sector.”

Meanwhile the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Isaac Adongo who was also at the forum cautioned vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia against forcing the country into a single digit inflation debate.

Mr Adongo also added that the current administration has not experienced a quarter of what the opposition NDC experienced while in government.
