YEA congratulates former Board Chairman Sammi Awuku on his appointment as Director-General of the National Lottery Authority

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has sent a congratulatory message to its immediate past Board Chairman, Mr. Sammi Awuku on his appointment as the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).

A statement issued by the Agency read in part that ‘’ Mr. Sammi Awuku selflessly supported the CEO and management in the reformation and job creation agenda of the Agency over the last four years, guiding the team through innovative ideas, great leadership skills and effective organisational skills.’’

The country woke up to the news of Mr. Awuku’s appointment with social and mainstream media awash with news of the appointment and the subsequent congratulatory messages from a cross section of the populace.

The Charismatic, iconic, intelligent and generous National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party’s appointment seems to have electrified the country with very exciting messages of congratulations pouring in from all corners of the country and beyond.

Mr. Awuku enjoys heavy and massive support from both the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The appointment of Capo or the Supremo as Mr. Awuku is affectionately called has been described by many as a master stroke by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, given the myriad of challenges that has rocked the NLA in recent times.

PROFILE

A product of St. Augustine’s College – Cape Coast, Sammi holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from the Freie University, Berlin-Germany, an Executive Education Certificate in Public Leadership from Harvard University, (Kennedy School of Government) USA, Diploma of Higher Education in Law from the University of London.

He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), a Postgraduate Certificate in Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon.

Mr. Sammi Awuku until recently was a Director of Strategy and Innovation at the April-June Company Limited in Accra and also a Director at the Brain Hill International School.

He has also served as a Board Member of the Accra City Hotel, from 2017 till date.

In the past, he has been thrice elected as the Vice Chairman of the International Young Democrats Union (IYDU), an international association of the youth wings of conservative parties across the world.

He is also a proud alumnus of the American Council for Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), a global platform for identifying and nurturing the talents of young future leaders.

In August 2017 he was named “Continental Youth Icon-2017” by the All Africa Students’ Union (AASU) in recognition of his long-standing contributions towards youth development on the African continent.

Similarly, in August 2014 he was named amongst the top 50 rising African stars by the Paris-based Africa Report Magazine.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Justin Kodua Frimpong, Esq., Management and the entire staff of the YEA wish to expressly congratulate the Agency’s former Board Chairman Mr. Sammi Awuku on his appointment as the Director General of the National Lottery Authority.

  • A Transformed and revived organisation devoid of corruption and a negative media tag over four years.
  • A record One Hundred and Forty Five Thousand (145000) jobs created for the youth of this country over the last four years.
  • A Jobcentre set up for creating permanent jobs for all levels of job seekers.

There is Artisan Directory, Agric and Skill based Flagship projects,  Work Abroad, NEIP collaborative interventions, etc.

  • Renovated and conducive offices for the staff of the Agency to work and deliver on the objective of reducing unemployment.

The list of unrivaled achievements goes on and on but for us as an Agency, it is simply attributed to your leadership of the Board, accommodation of varied ideas and support to management.
