The Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema East constituency has rubbished reports that it was the main architects of a recent demonstration that hit Tema Manhean in which residents of the area called on government to rescue them by giving them good roads and hospitals among others.

The party in the constituency issued a statement to debunk media reports that linked it to the demonstration.

The Statement signed by the constituency secretary Seidu Abdulai stated in part that ‘’whiles the NDC particularly, in Tema East share in the bummer and inconvenience of the people of Tema Manhean, we want to state unequivocally, that we are not remotely or directly connected to the group who demonstrated in Tema on Tuesday, 11th of December, 2018. It is therefore vacuously absurd for any serious journalist who knows his worth to make such disparaging remarks about members of NDC people in Tema’.

Re Demonstrating NDC Youth In Boozing Spree At Tema.

We read with utter shock and dismay, the publication in the Daily Guide Newspaper of 12th   December, 2018 with the caption above. A pressure group in Tema Manhean on Tuesday, 11th December, 2018 decided to embark on  demonstration and protested against the government for neglecting Tema Manhean.

We were taken aback by Daily Guide’s attempt to connect the NDC to it, and try to trivialize the issues raised by the people of Tema Manhean. We expected daily guide to be a bit professional and rise above pettiness, cheap, and insipid propaganda.

One would have thought that, in an epoch where most of their media colleagues are engaged in fruitful, and playing their “watch dog” role, and contributing meaningfully to the progress and forward match of Ghana… daily guide would have disengaged themselves from their antiquated political journalism and be more focused on perfecting and professionalism; having gain the confidence and trust of the NPP already, you do not have to feel shrimpy and engage in trivialities to prove a point.

The issues raised by the people of Tema Manhean should be a grave concern to you and your political party, if you truly believe in Ghana. The people of Tema Manhean are demanding for a better hospital and good medical care. They are also demanding for good roads and street lights and, the response they got from daily guide and NPP is to describe them as boozers.

Whiles the NDC particularly, in Tema East share in the bummer and inconvenience of the people of Tema Manhean, we want to state unequivocally, that we are not remotely or directly connected to the group who demonstrated in Tema on Tuesday, 11th of December, 2018. It is therefore vacuously absurd for any serious journalist who knows his worth to make such disparaging remarks about members of NDC people in Tema.

We also want to emphatically state, that, the physically challenged man whom according to daily guide was nearly assaulted for drinking majority of the alcoholic beverages is a fanatical supporter of the NPP.

Instead of the NPP and daily guide think deeply, observe, and excogitate over issues raised by the group and meaningfully engage them, they rather seeking refuge in political hocus pocus.

The NDC in recent past is noted and credited for bringing appreciable level of development to the people of Tema Manhean in the area of Health, Education,Roads, Housing etc. Hon Kempes Paa Nii Ofosuware as Chief Executive of TMA stride in developing Tema Manhean. He asphalted the Tema township and that is why the people of Tema Manhean affectionately call him Mr. Asphalt. His successor, Hon Isaac Ashai Odamtten continued with the asphaltic roads and build schools. Same cannot be said about the current Chief Executive of TMA.

Tema East NPP and Daily Guide, should be concerned about their failed member of parliament, who is embarrassingly struggling to take over Tweedaase Primary School Park as his bona fide property.

We are by this, calling on Daily Guide to listen to the cry of the people of Tema Manhean, and disengage in patronage and confirm their parti pris in their reportage going forward.

SEIDU, Abdulai

Secretary, Tema East Constituency, NDC.
