The second lady, Madam Samira Bawumia has reiterated her commitment at ending the menace of sexual and gender based violence and harmful practices.

She made the pronouncements when the Deputy Executive Director incharge of Programmes at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Dereje Wordofa, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on her while on a mission to attend the Addis Ababa Declaration on Population and Development (AADPD) Review Conference.

The two sides discussed several issues of mutual interest with particular emphasis on the Coalition of People Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices (CoPASH) initiative as well as how to align the operations and activities of the Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects (SEHP), with the mandate of the UNFPA especially on issues of gender and young people.
