The Upper West Youth for John Mahama 2020, have declared their unflinching support for Former President John Dramani Mahama ahead of the party’s Presidential Primaries to be held tomorrow Saturday, 23rd February 2019.

Among other things, the youth believe the former president is the most marketed, suitable and best person to lead the party into the 2020 elections.

‘’Besides, JM has better linkages and networks within and outside the country. As a party in opposition, we are definitely resources constrained hence we need resources/ideas to take advantage of the fumbling Nana-Bawumia NPP government, to articulate voters’ concerns vividly and to put before them comparatively, more realistic solutions. Haven been a president before, JM is better placed to rake in the necessary resources’’ they added.

THE UPPER WEST YOUTH FOR JM 2020 WISH TO STATE AND BRING TO THE FORE, SOME KEY REASONS WHY JM SHOULD BE ELECTED AS NDC FLAG BEARER FOR THE 2020 GENERAL ELECTIONS

It is without doubt that the great NDC party has some of the finest Human Resource in the political landscape of Ghana. This is evident in the caliber of individuals who have put up themselves for election to the position of flag bearer. The said individuals are true and true party men, who have paid their dues to the party. Electing any one of them can serve our purpose, but the one that can best serve our collective interest and strongly, fearlessly, dedicatedly wrestle power from the limping New Patriotic Party come 2020 is FORMER PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA (JDM for short).

JDM stands very tall among his peers in this race, and the members of Upper West Youth for JM 2020 so much believe this. That is why we are calling on all supporters and sympathizers of the umbrella family, particularly the cherished delegates to give their full support to JM and vote #3 on the ballot paper this Saturday, 23 February, 2019.

A number of reasons, including but not limited to the following form the basis of our call;

In the first place, JM has the edge, zeal and capacity to fight. As its often said, “once bitten twice shy.” It is not news that JM lost 2016 presidential elections.  In his concession speech, H.E John Mahama himself was the first to admit that he bears a chunk of the pain and regrets for failing the party and its support base. Under such circumstances any person would want a retaliation. So if payback opportunity is offered JM tendency to fight like a wounded buffalo to get back his and the party’s fame, image and dignity is much higher than the rest.

JM has superior experience and expertise in governance than any of the other contestants. Being a president before, he knows better the underlying factors of his mistakes, pitfalls (weaknesses), and inactions. We know them as well. He knows better than his most likely opponent, Nana. Therefore, JM can easily focus on the task ahead. He can easily be molded, packaged and rebranded. Same cannot be said about his contenders

The real personality of a person is revealed when he/she wills power or money. We are of the strongest conviction that 2020 elections is not a gamble game for try and error approach for neophytes. JM’s accumulated experience and expertise in governance therefore puts him tall above all in leading us in the 2020 elections campaign.

Besides, JM has better linkages and networks within and outside the country. As a party in opposition, we are definitely resources constrained hence we need resources/ideas to take advantage of the fumbling Nana-Bawumia NPP government, to articulate voters’ concerns vividly and to put before them comparatively, more realistic solutions. Haven been a president before, JM is better placed to rake in the necessary resources. Additionally, being a former flag bearer, for that matter, a president, the party stands a better chance of saving resources with JM as our 2020 candidate, that would have been used in procuring party paraphernalia since old ones can still be used.

JM again communicates with public/voter better, embraces voters better and deploys a higher ability to share the feelings of the voter (empathy) than the rest. Articulating issues of national concern on larger bigger platforms and appealing to the voter for victory is one major trait of JM opponents within and without cannot contest such strength of JM.

Been a president before, we believe if JM is offered an opportunity to lead our party into the 2020 general elections he would be better abreast with lots of citizens’ concerns and upcoming issues due to his Versatility, compassion and respect for the individual.

He is humble, honest, sincere, truthful, down to earth and presidential. These values of JM can draw swing voters, new voters and apathetic voters to the polling booth in our favour if leverage well.

Finally, it is an undeniably fact, that if there is any face the NPP does not want to see on the ticket of NDC then it’s that of JM. They would do any and everything within their might to see that diabolical wish.  That is why from the president, Nana Addo through the vice to the last person in the NPP will pounce on every single statement from JM and try to twist, divert and discredit same. The question we simply ask is if they pay similar little attention to the other aspirants?. Does that ring any bell? Common sense can reveal that JM is a threat to the NPP, and keeps causing them sleepless nights. They know he alone can cost them the 2020 elections.

Ladies and Gentlemen, should we as posited by our forebearers, sell our dog to buy a monkey? NO.

In conclusion, the Upper West Youth for JM hold the strongest view that JM should not be changed because he has done it before and can again get the job done. We call on our delegates to consider the aforementioned points and give JM a massive endorsement, come this Saturday, 23rd February, 2019, to send cold shivers down the spines of the fumbling NPP and their over bloated, nepotistic government that we are coming for 2020 better prepared and solidly united.

#GO4JM, No.3 on the ballot.

Long live JDM

Long live the great NDC

Long Ghana, our Motherland.
