Tsunami hits top brass of Customs Division; Col. Damoah cleared to wear Customs Uniform

A major shakeup has taken place at the top brass of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the first since the appointment of Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd) as commissioner.

As the tsunami revolves, Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, Mr Seth Dwirah has been reassigned to the Ministry of Finance, Deputy Commissioner of Preventive,  Alhaji Seidu Iddisah and his second in command have been shifted to the Customs Academy at Agortime-Kpetoe in the Volta Region.

The vacant position in preventive is now being filled by Assistant Commissioner, Mr Yacuub Seidu as the Acting Deputy Commissioner.

The senior most person with the rank of Assistant Commissioner, Mr Felix Mate Kojo has been promoted to the next rank of Deputy Commissioner with responsibility over Policy and Planning, Assistant Commissioner, Madam Hannah Acquah Sampson moves from Free zones to Post Clearance Audit, Assistant Commissioner, Dr Okoh-Appiah moves from the Tema Port to the Ministry of Finance and Commandant at the Customs Academy, with Assistant Commissioner, Appiah Warden taking his place.

Meanwhile as the internal shake up continues with more areas affected, the Minister of Finance has given approval for the new Commissioner, Col. Kwadwo Damuah to wear the Customs uniform.

Customs which is responsible for collection of a large chunk of state revenue has not been meeting set targets for the last two years, a trend which culminated in earlier changes at the commissionership a little over a month ago.
